What’s the difference between the BIFM and FM World websites?
The FM World website is the online magazine for the BIFM and contains news and views from the wider facilities management sector. The BIFM website is a resource of institute-related news and knowledge.
Is all the website content freely available?
No, the content from the most recent issues of the magazine and the most current news stories, plus the job advertisements, are freely available but the archive is only available to BIFM members, as part of their membership package, and FM World subscribers.
Is all the content from FM World magazine on the FM World website?
Yes, there is a digital version of the most current issue of the magazine plus a searchable archive of past features, columns and news stories. But there is far more on the website than we can fit in the magazine: each day we write at least five articles about what’s happening in the FM sector plus a regularly updated blog. There are also more jobs online than in the hard copy of the magazine.
How can I submit an article idea to FM World?
We write news and features in-house and employ freelance journalists and experts in the field. If you have an idea for a feature, please send a synopsis of 100-200 words to the editor Cathy Hayward at cathy@fm-world.co.uk or call 020 7880 6229. It should outline very briefly what the main idea is and what might be included in the feature. Most features are 1,300 words, although cover features can be up to 2,000 words. There are also opportunities to write short viewpoint pieces, practical how-to articles and legal updates. We will look at your suggestion and let you know quickly whether we want to take it forward. We also welcome letters about articles in FM World or the wider world. Please email cathy@fm-world.co.uk
In addition to the fortnightly magazine, FM World publishes a daily email news service – the FM World Daily – which includes all the latest essential news about the FM industry including new business wins, mergers and acquisitions news, financial results, market research, legislative updates and event reports. News for the FM World Daily should be sent to the news editor Louisa Roberts at Louisa@fm-world.co.uk or call on 020 7880 8544.
Does the BIFM approve the content of FM World?
No, although FM World is the fortnightly magazine of the BIFM, the bulk of the editorial is completely independent. The BIFM supplies the copy for the BIFM news pages which contains information about regional or group events.
How can I publicise a BIFM regional, Sig or Sector Forum event in the magazine and website?
Please send details about your event to editorial@fm-world.co.uk or call 020 7880 6229.
How can I get a report of my BIFM regional, Sig or Sector Forum event in the magazine and website?
Please email your event reports and pictures to Jessica Beaven at the BIFM at jessica.beaven@bifm.org.uk or call 0845 058 1356
I’d like to invite FM World to an industry event, who should I contact?
Please send details of your event to Cathy Hayward at editorial@fm-world.co.uk or call 020 7880 6229.
Do you publish new product or service launches?
As the BIFM’s publication, we have to be careful not to be seen to be giving publicity to one particular product or organisation but we do accept advertising for new products or services. Please contact John Nahar at john.nahar@redactive.co.uk or call 020 7880 7660.
How many readers do you have?
Our latest ABC revealed that we have a circulation of 11,248, but the 2007 FM World Readership Research showed that each copy is read by 2.5 people giving us a total readership of more than 28,000.
How can I find out about advertising rates and place an advert in the magazine?
You can download a media pack from this website which sets out the latest rates – see the About Us section. Corporate members of the BIFM are entitled to special rates. For further details please contact John Nahar at john.nahar@redactive.co.uk or call 020 7880 7660
Do BIFM corporate members get a discount on advertising in FM World?
