Bournemouth Council is standing by its decision to outsource human resources and finance operations to Mouchel, which already provides FM and other services.
“The transfer will take place on 1 February,” a statement said.
The council said it “considered a detailed independent risk assessment” based on Mouchel Group’s latest audited financial statements “along with an impartial review of the risk management and contract governance arrangements that are already in place”.
Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Resources John Beesley said that “robust measures have been put in place to plan for a variety of risks, including a strong exit strategy in the event of needing to bring services back in house”.
He also said the council expects to save £2.2 million over the life of the contract.
“I should highlight that service levels already being achieved by Mouchel in the services currently provided – IT, facilities management, and revenues and benefits – are in line with contractual obligations,” said Beesley.
The 100 employees within Bournemouth’s HR and finance departments will transfer to Mouchel.
