Mitie is targeting the document management and distribution services market for legal businesses by expanding its London operation across the UK.
The new start-up, Mitie Business Services, was created with investment from Mitie’s Entrepreneurs' Fund and will focus on regional markets, according to a statement by Mitie.
Mitie’s existing Business Services division was established in London in 2000 and has an annual turnover of more than £40 million.
The initial focus for the new business will be southern England and the Midlands, and a key target will be the legal sector.
“Mitie, which stands for Management Incentive Through Investment Equity, has a long history of partnering with management teams to start up new business ventures,” said its statement, helping more than 90 start-ups since the group was founded 24 years ago.
“In January 2011, Mitie launched a £10 million fund to back management teams with innovative ideas for starting mutually owned businesses in the United Kingdom.”
Mitie is “passionate about providing opportunities for entrepreneurs who want to grow businesses and lead the enterprise-led recovery in the UK”, said Mitie chief executive Ruby McGregor-Smith, who received a CBE in the New Year’s Honours List.
Tim France, director for Mitie Business Services UK, said the new business is “a very exciting opportunity for us to grow a business delivering professional document management services on a regional basis”.
