NG Bailey has won multimillion pound contracts to provide mechanical and electrical services to Reading station and London’s Victoria station.
The maintenance provider will be working in conjunction with Costain and Hochtief on the Reading station redevelopment for end-client Network Rail.
The overall work includes the construction of five platforms and a transfer bridge. NG Bailey will provide the enabling works design as well as supply, install and commission the mechanical and electrical services and telecoms systems.
The Victoria station upgrade, for end-client London Underground, features an additional ticket hall, nine escalators and seven lifts. The improvements are designed to make the station step-free for easier use by wheelchair users, parents with buggies and passengers with luggage.
NG Bailey will provide design development, installation and commissioning of mechanical and public health systems as well as fire protection and detection systems for construction firms Taylor Woodrow and BAM Nuttall.
“These contracts are a sign of the success that the rail division is currently experiencing,” said Chris Raven, managing director of NG Bailey’s rail division.
The Reading station redevelopment is due for completion in February 2014 and the Victoria station upgrade will be complete in 2018.
