Reading Borough Council has extended its school meals catering contract with Chartwells for another four years.
Chartwells, the educational catering business of Compass Group UK & Ireland, will continue to operate in 47 Reading schools, providing 800,000 school meals per year to 11,000 pupils and students.
The new contract is worth £2 million in annual revenue.
Chartwells has provided catering to Reading Borough Council since 2006. According to a Compass statement, the firm has achieved a 20 per cent improvement in the uptake of school meals.
John Ennis, Reading's lead councillor for Education and Children's Services, said: "Reading's reputation as a place where children enjoy healthy and nutritious school meals has gone from strength to strength over the past five years."
Chartwells, part of Compass Group UK & Ireland, provides catering and support services to more than 2,000 schools, colleges and universities across the UK.
