6 January 2012

Reading Borough Council has extended its school meals catering contract with Chartwells for another four years.

The new contract is worth £2 million in annual revenue.

Chartwells has provided catering to Reading Borough Council since 2006. According to a Compass statement, the firm has achieved a 20 per cent improvement in the uptake of school meals.

John Ennis, Reading's lead councillor for Education and Children's Services, said: "Reading's reputation as a place where children enjoy healthy and nutritious school meals has gone from strength to strength over the past five years."
