Churchill London has been awarded a multimillion-pound cleaning contract with London South Bank University.

The new £6 million combined ‘soft service’ contract covers delivery of general cleaning waste disposal and window cleaning services at London South Bank University (LSBU).

Churchill will provide these services at the Southwark and Havering campuses currently used by 18,000 students (full and part-time) as well as nearly 2,000 academic and support staff.

From September 2017, the three-year deal – which includes the option to extend for a further two years – will see the educational sector specialist amalgamate its academic and residential campus contracts that were previously managed by two separate suppliers.

Churchill has been tasked with transforming the operation and instilling a ’one team‘ approach that will focus on delivering an enhanced service using innovative technology.

Simon Francis, LSBU’s head of estates services, said: “The university was very impressed with Churchill’s bid and presentation. What impressed us most was the passion and energy shown during their presentation and the proposals for improvements that could be delivered through technology-led innovation. As the university has some major redevelopment projects planned, Churchill’s expertise in this area convinced us that they would make ideal partners going forwards.”

Joe Saisi, operations director for London, said: “We will use our forward-thinking approach and extensive knowledge of the higher education sector to ensure a smooth transition, and deliver a high standard of product and service. Providing an outstanding client experience is paramount to our success in helping the university to achieve its objectives.”
