BRE appoints building technology director

Peter Ball has been appointed as strategic research director of BRE’s Building Technology business.

Ball worked for Costain before joining BRE, and has worked with contactless, mobile and sensor technologies across a range of sectors.

He said that he plans to put this knowledge to good use in the built environment as it rises to the many challenges posed by the UK’s aging demographic.

“There is still a reluctance in the construction sector to innovate and do things differently but we are faced with huge challenges now that the baby boomer generation is maturing,” said Ball.

“Delivery of health services will in the future be much more community and home based.

Technology will be key in supporting this. We need to research, trial and experiment with new ideas and innovations now so we are ready for the future.”
