Event organisers will be booking smaller, more frequent events this year compared to 2011, with more events booked at venues outside London.
According to two-thirds of respondents in a survey of 250 event organisers and clients, organisers will be putting on fewer of the larger, one-off events that have been the preferred function over the past few years.
Two main reasons for the move to venues outside London was vastly improved facilities in the provinces and budget constraints of clients, said respondents, who were attending a 10th anniversary celebration of Venue Reservations, part of the Crown Group.
The gathering was at Church House Conference Centre in Westminster, London.
