Staffordshire Uni transforms nightclub loos

Transgender students have been given their own toilets at a university nightclub, according to a report in The Daily Mail.

Loos being trialled at the Staffordshire University union’s nightclub are believed to be one of the first transgender facilities in the UK, and are a big hit, writes the Mail.

More of the gender-neutral toilets could be built or designated around the university as a regular campus facility.

Union president Fee Wood is quoted as saying that the union has had “positive reactions” to the toilets. “We do have transgender students here, but the new facilities are not just for them. They are for the androgynous students as well. The decision whether to keep them or roll them out to all our venues will be taken in March time.”

The Mail notes that the new loos are made up of a set of cubicles in a block that used to be used for just women. There are also toilets for females, men and disabled people in the club.
