Workplace Week to hold ‘Enhancing human performance’ workshop

29 October 2014

How workplace managers can orientate the workplace to enhance human performance will be one of the areas explored in the Workplace Week convention to take place next week.

The day-long event on Thursday, November 6 will also feature Eric Barends, CEO of the Centre for Evidence Based Management, and Professor Rob Briner of the University of Bath, presenting the results of AWA’s research into knowledge worker productivity and will offer tips on how to ensure that teams work productively.

Practical experience and advice will come from Owen Sharp, CEO of Prostate Cancer UK and Denise Harrison, Invesco’s global head of real estate and facilities, who will share their experiences of office relocations and introducing major cultural changes within their organisations.

Misha Gopaul, a founding director of Workplace Fabric, will speak about office technology including sensors, smarter phones, and wearables.

The inaugural Workplace Week in 2009 happened after Andrew Mawson, AWA’s managing director, watched Children in Need and had the idea for a workplace-related event to raise money for the charity.

Workplace Week raised £11,500 in 2013.

Mawson said: “Workplace Week has become one of the most innovative, fun and inspirational programmes in the workplace professional calendar since AWA launched the first one in 2009.”

Workplace Week 2014 is supported by PwC, CoreNet Global, the British Institute of Facilities Management, FM World, i-FM, PFM, OPI, Herman Miller, RICS, Building Futures Group, Workplace Law, Kinnarps, Humanscale, Office Insight, Tomorrow’s FM, FMJ, Scanomet, MyCognition and ThisWeekinFM.com.
