The HSE demands exacting standards © iStock

ION Environmental, part of the Carey Group, has been awarded the maximum three-year licence to remove asbestos.

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) expects licence holders to meet exacting standards and high levels of professionalism and integrity – and the licence period granted is dependent on a range of factors.

ION secured the licence following an intensive assessment by the HSE of the company’s capabilities during its previous licence period. It demonstrated the highest levels of leadership, management, legal compliance and employee engagement. Asbestos removal is one of the most high-risk and tightly regulated sectors in the UK alongside nuclear and offshore oil and gas.

ION specialises in retail, education, health, public, residential, commercial and industrial sectors across the UK, managing and delivering asbestos removal projects in a ‘live’ environment alongside clients’ customers, employees or residents.

Key clients and projects include Ford Dagenham, Sainsbury’s, Selfridges, Cambridge Military Hospital Aldershot, London School of Economics, Golding Homes, and the BBC.

ION works closely with Carey Group companies Scudder Demolition and Careys Civil Engineering on larger projects as part of Careys’ integrated offering. Clients benefit from shorter programmes – delivered on time – as well as improved risk management and value for money.
