Philippa Couttie

9 November 2017 | Herpreet Kaur Grewal

Mitie Group plc has announced the appointment of Philippa Couttie as a non-executive director of Mitie with effect from 15 November 2017.

Couttie has extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. She spent five years leading Westminster Council, before which she served as the cabinet member for housing and was the deputy cabinet minister for children services, following a year as a local councillor.

Before pursuing a career in public service Couttie was a director at Citigroup Capital following its takeover of Schroders, where she headed its principal finance business.

Couttie has served as a non-executive director on a number of boards since 2006. These include the London Local Enterprise Partnership Board, chairing the West End Partnership, and sitting on the governing body for Imperial College while also chairing its audit committee.

She was recently ennobled and joined the House of Lords in 2016. She has a BSc (Hons) in psychology from the University of St Andrews.

It is confirmed that there are no further details to be disclosed pursuant to LR 9.6.13 R (1) to (6) and that Couttie does not currently hold any shares in the company.

Derek Mapp, chairman of Mitie, said Couttie’s expertise “across business, finance and both local and national government will be invaluable to Mitie as we continue to deliver our transformation programme and execute our Connected Workspace strategy”.

Couttie said she looked forward to working at Mitie “as it moves into its next phase and repositions itself for the changing market”.
