Mitie Group plc has made two new senior appointments.
Matthew Thompson joins as managing director of Mitie’s cleaning & environmental services business, and Chris Copeland takes up the newly created role of chief marketing & strategy officer to oversee and develop Mitie’s corporate and business unit strategy.
Thompson joins from Zenith Ltd, the UK’s largest independent vehicle leasing business, where he was chief commercial officer.
Before this, he spent eight years at Compass Group as managing director of the UK Sports & Leisure business, covering sector services from catering to cleaning. Before Compass, Thompson held a number of senior executive positions at Centrica and Glaxo Welcome, spanning both UK and global activities.
He will report directly to Mitie’s chief executive, Phil Bentley.
Copeland joins from Bupa, where he developed the corporate strategy and set up innovation and digital programmes for the leading healthcare specialist.
Prior to this, he spent 16 years at Diageo, where he built and led a £300 million innovation business for the international region as well as leading marketing for brands such as Captain Morgan rum. Copeland reports to Simon Venn, managing director, professional services & connected workspace.
