Serco Leisure has secured a five-year extension to its contract with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to manage three major leisure sites in the borough in partnership with Basingstoke and Deane Community Leisure Trust.

As part of the contract, which runs until December 2022, Serco Leisure and Basingstoke and Deane Community Leisure Trust will upgrade the existing facilities at all three sites as well as introducing a range of new features designed to meet the changing needs of the local community. The changes are “a £5 million package of improvements”.

  • • Installing a state-of-the-art 40-station gym at Tadley Pool, which is expected to attract around 1,200 new members.
  •
  • • Adding an 18-hole family adventure golf course at Basingstoke Golf course, helping to encourage more children to take up the sport, as well as carrying out a modernisation of the driving range.
  •
  • • Refurbishing the gym and studio at the Basingstoke Aquadrome with new equipment, and expanding it to offer 130 stations.

Alan Elliott, partnership director for Serco, said: “As a Hampshire-based business, we are very proud of our track record in helping local people in Basingstoke and Deane to get active by providing a range of high-quality yet affordable leisure options. Our plans for the next five years will us to make the facilities even more compelling, and we’re very pleased to have the opportunity to continue serving the local community.”
